To Ensure Home Based RMG Workers Rights Project
Home-based garment workers in Bangladesh face multiple challenges at work and often work in informal and indecent working environments. Working conditions and long hours are low, low wages, and insecure environments. They have low bargaining power and are deprived of formal labor protections. The main goal of this project is to improve the living standards of home-based workers by providing support to workers to raise awareness.\r\nProject Theme: The project to ensure the rights of home-based garment workers implemented by Mamata in the Chittagong City Corporation area with financial support from the European Union and technical assistance from Oxfam. The target participants will be a total of 1500 home-based garment workers. To enhance the positive change in the process of increasing party mobility, to develop women\'s leadership to address various discriminatory practices related to the lives and livelihoods of home-based garment workers, to improve their socio-economic status and to improve decent working conditions for women in home-based garment factories, to protect them from occupational health hazards and violence in the workplace and in society/community. The main theme of this project is to establish a platform for women workers to protest loudly against party mobility and violations of rules/rights, oppression and discrimination, and to ensure a decent workplace.\r\n Project Objectives:\r\nTo create a decent working environment for home-based garment workers free from gender-based violence/disadvantage and to ensure satisfactory wages and fair benefits.\r\nTo create a platform for home-based garment workers who contribute to the export of ready-made garments through democratic centralization/practice to voice their demands.\r\nTo organize in party dynamics with leadership development for workers to gain their rights.\r\nTo raise awareness about rights and fair benefits.\r\nTo focus factory owners on creating decent and environmentally friendly workplaces.\r\nTo create an appropriate environment through training to reduce gender-based violence and deprivation in the workplace and community.\r\nProject area:\r\nChittagong City Corporation\'s 09th North Pahartali Ward, 10th North Kattali Ward, 11th South Kattali Ward, 12th Saraipara Ward, 13th Pahartali Ward, 14th Lalkhan Bazar Ward, 24th North Agrabad Ward, 25th Rampur Ward, 26th Halishahar Ward, 27th South Agrabad Ward, 36th Gosaildanga Ward, 37th Middle Halishahar Ward, 38th South Middle Halishahar Ward, 39th South Halishahar Ward, 40th North Patenga Ward, 41st South Patenga Ward.\r\n
